Variscite’s i.MX 8 System on Module portfolio delivers scalable Arm processing with advanced multimedia capabilities for demanding embedded applications. Utilizing NXP’s i.MX 8QuadMax/8QuadPlus, i.MX 8M, i.MX 8M Mini, i.MX 8M Nano, i.MX 8M Plus, and i.MX 8X application processors, these modules span from cost-optimized solutions to high-performance multimedia and AI-enhanced platforms.
The i.MX 8QuadMax/8QuadPlus provides dual 1.6GHz Cortex-A72 plus quad 1.2GHz Cortex-A53 cores with dual real-time Cortex-M4F co-processors for demanding applications requiring high-end graphics and 4K video capabilities. The i.MX 8M Plus introduces integrated AI/ML acceleration with a 2.3 TOPS NPU alongside 1.8GHz quad Cortex-A53 and 800MHz Cortex-M7 cores. The i.MX 8M Mini and Nano offer balanced multimedia performance with cost optimization, while the i.MX 8X delivers power-efficient processing with built-in safety features for industrial applications.
All modules are pin-compatible within their respective VAR-SOM and DART Pin2Pin families, enabling Variscite customers to scale from cost-optimized to high-performance multimedia or AI platforms without a carrier-board redesign while preserving long-term flexibility.
