Variscite is excited to host a unique webinar about the cybersecurity regulations affecting embedded device design followed by an FAQ session with Mr. Fabio Tranchitella, an expert in secure device management, CTO and Head Product Manager of Mender.

We invite you to prepare or send ahead to [email protected] any questions about cybersecurity and embedded devices.

Hardware and software products are increasingly subject to successful cyberattacks, leading to an estimated global annual cost of cybercrime of €5.5 trillion by 2021. The government and industry are taking action to compel security by design in embedded device design.

For example, the European Cyber Resilience Act (CRA) is a proposal by the European Commission for a regulation on cybersecurity requirements for products with digital elements, bolsters cybersecurity rules to ensure more secure hardware and software products.

The US National Cybersecurity Strategy highlights improving the security of Internet of Things (IoT) devices and expanding IoT cybersecurity labels. This sees a shift in the burden of cybersecurity (and its associated costs and liability) to the entities with the greatest expertise and resources, e.g., large owners and operators of critical infrastructure, vendors and software developers.

Furthermore, significant parts of industry standards certification such as IEC 62443-4-2 require a secure software update process for an edge gateway in a connected product.

Embedded system designers need to understand the regulatory framework and standards certification requirements for device security and how to design an embedded product to be compliant.

In this webinar we address and discuss the following questions:

  • What are the most critical government cybersecurity mandates?
  • What are the most critical product cybersecurity standards?
  • What do these regulations and standards mean for embedded device design and software management?
  • What is the most efficient route to compliance when designing embedded hardware (and software) to operate in a connected environment?
